We started this to become an online resource for people who love food.  My mission is to help people who don’t know how to cook, learn to cook.  I also want to have a place for those who enjoy cooking to come together and discuss what they like, dislike and techniques they use. I want people from all walks of the cooking world to be able to come together in one place and discuss food, tools and techniques.

As some of you know, I am wheelchair bound from an accident in 2010.  I want to also be able to show others that are mobility impaired that life goes on, especially life in the kitchen.  I am the primary food preparer in my household consisting of my wife and 2 kids.  Cooking with Legs is also the name of my cookbook.  The term stems from a stuffed animal that my parents put in my hospital bed with me while I was comatose.  I named him legs, so that I would always have legs with me.  Legs became my mascot while I was in rehab, and the term stuck.  Hence the cookbook and the site are named after him, and the comfort he gave me.  Since we started this blog and journey a month ago, we have already seen more growth that I thought we would see by this point, and I’m thrilled to see it helping and reaching so many.  I hope to see it continue to grow and help more people.  If you’ve been watching, stay tuned, we have many more great meals coming.  If you’re new to it, than please keep watching and following.  Consider joining the forum and get your voice heard, ask questions, give some suggestions.  We are waiting to hear from you.

My goal with this is also to inspire hope. Since the accident in 2010, I’ve been told by many that they find the story to be somewhat inspiring. I don’t know that I see it that way, it’s just me trying to live my life the best way that I can. However if it inspired someone, than I owe it to myself and to those that made it possible to exploit that, and inspire others. I want people to realize that no matter what they may be going through, they only need to keep moving forward, and they will get where they want to go. Since my accident I have earned 2 college degrees, gotten married, had 2 children and moved across the country. If I can do all of that in ten years times, there is no mountain that can’t be overcome. It all starts with taking that first step.

My concentration is usually on dishes Inspired by my growing up on New Orleans, and the time I spend in Arizona after hurricane Katrina. However; there are many other dishes that I’ve come across along the way.  In short, I cook what I love; and what, my family enjoys.  I try to make my dishes as healthy as possible focusing on the fact that fresh ingredients and a few simple steps make the best food.

Thank you again and stay tuned for more!
